National Youth Upcycling Movement 2021
Food Packaging: Don’t Throw It, Upcycle It!
Welcome to the National Youth Upcycling Movement (NYUM) 2021!
NYUM is aligned with the national drive towards environmental education and focuses on preparing students to be responsible global citizens. The objectives of the NYUM are:
To educate youth on the threats facing the natural environment
To inspire youth to take action in promoting a culture of sustainability through upcycling and green consumerism
The NYUM empowers each team to design and create upcycled household items using waste materials with guidance from experts and consultants in the industry.
This webpage contains the NYUM Enrichment Package.
Here you will find 3 modules that will help you understand more about food waste & composting, design thinking methodologies and upcycling tips! For each of the module, there are informational videos and accompanying worksheets. Students can download the worksheets and complete them during or after watching the videos.

After going through the NYUM Online Symposium and/or NYUM Enrichment Package, teachers please download these worksheets to conduct a post programme reflection with the students. Afterwhich, the reflection responses will need to be submitted to the organisers.
