upcycling workshops.
Experience a hands-on approach to sustainability education with Terra SG’s upcycling workshops. Through an interactive session, workshop participants will learn the importance of environmental sustainability and the value of upcycling. They will rethink the possibilities of materials they encounter every day, incorporating sustainable habits into their daily life.
Demographics
For Schools & Institutions
At Terra SG, we encourage everyone to rethink the possibilities of our waste. With this philosophy, upcycling – the process of transforming our perceived trash into useful items – has become the highlight of our hands-on programmes in schools.
Besides encouraging creativity in all students through craft techniques, our upcycling workshops will also teach students about the value of the various materials they see in their everyday life. Students will get to work with a large variety of materials, including PVC banners, plastic water bottles, milk cartons, unwanted T-shirts, plastic bottle caps and more!
Our upcycling workshops complement the formal school curriculum, exemplifying the lessons taught in Social Studies, Geography and Science classes. The workshops also promote active and responsible citizenship and is curated to fit:
Character & Citizenship Education (CCE) programmes;
Values in Action (VIA) programmes;
Science programmes; and
Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programmes.

mediums
We consistently seek out prospective disused materials with the aim of repurposing them into functional products. Below, you'll find a glimpse of the material types we've incorporated into our programme offerings.
Paper
Paper is a versatile material commonly found in magazines and food and beverage cartons. These disused paper products can be converted into functional storage spaces for everyday use, such as pouches, mask holders, and card holders - through our upcycling workshops.
Plastic
Plastic is found everywhere. We tend to throw away our single-use plastics, resulting in many PET bottles, plastic cartons and food packaging going to waste. Instead of throwing them away, we can repurpose these durable plastics into functional items such as the decorative LED lamps or functional card case.
Fabric
Clothes are essential to our everyday lives. But, what happens when we have too much? Our fabrics can be upcycled too. Cotton t-shirts can be transformed into products like coasters, friendship bands, multi-use holders, and tote bags - no sewing required!
Others
There are a myriad of other materials that can be upcycled and given a second lease of life. Here are just a snapshot of some materials such as coconut husks, glass, food waste and wood.
