For Schools & Institutions

FOR SCHOOLS & INSTITUTIONS.

Terra SG offers a wide range of programmes to enrich and enhance sustainability education, catered to students of all ages.

From experiential learning journeys to school assembly talks to hands-on upcycling workshops in the classroom, our programmes will not only teach students about the importance of environmental sustainability but also how they can make a positive impact on our environment through the actions they take in their everyday lives.

Terra SG’s programmes are in line with the Ministry of Education’s initiative to bring sustainability education to our local school curriculum. In addition, all of Terra SG’s facilitators are MOE-certified to conduct programmes in all educational institutions.

We offer seven types of services for schools, each customisable to your institution’s needs.

Eco Education.

Eco Education is fundamental in educating our future generation about the importance of environmental sustainability.

Through assembly talks, classroom dialogues, group discussions and seminars, students will be actively engaged in learning about local environmental issues.

With a focus on imparting practical environmental action to students, our Eco Education programme can extend beyond the classroom into real life practice.

Eco Education delivers the core information that every student needs to be environmentally conscious to play a part in saving the Earth.

Gallery & School Programmes.

Sustainability goes far beyond lessons in the classroom. Terra SG currently manages the Sustainable Singapore Gallery (SSG) at Marina Barrage. SSG is Singapore’s flagship sustainability gallery and the ideal destination for a sustainability learning journey.

In addition, Terra SG has also designed the SSG School Programme, an interactive learning experience that features a guided tour, hands-on activities and a game card that motivates students to explore the gallery in search for answers.

All SSG School Programme sessions are complimentary for all educational institutions in Singapore, including MOE schools, learning centres and childcare centres. School Programmes are suitable for students aged 5 and up.

Green Spaces.

At Terra SG, we believe that sustainability can be applied anywhere. Our Green Spaces programme brings life to various spaces in schools, transforming them into a space for sustainability education, reinforcing environmental concepts taught in classrooms.

Terra SG uses sustainable resources and instils upcycled elements to create a green space fit for various purposes.

Some of the spaces that we have previously transformed include stairwells, walkways, neglected corners, corridors, special classrooms and other multi-purpose spaces. These have been transformed into sustainable galleries, upcycling and makers labs, zero-waste rooms and green corners.

Upcycling Workshops.

At Terra SG, we encourage everyone to rethink the possibilities of our waste. With this philosophy, upcycling  – the process of transforming our perceived trash into useful items – has become the highlight of our hands-on programmes in schools.

Besides encouraging creativity in all students through craft techniques, our upcycling workshops will also teach students about the value of the various materials they see in their everyday life. Students will get to work with a large variety of materials, including PVC banners, plastic water bottles, milk cartons, unwanted T-shirts, plastic bottle caps and more!

Our upcycling workshops complement the formal school curriculum, exemplifying the lessons taught in Social Studies, Geography and Science classes. The workshops also promote active and responsible citizenship and is curated to fit:

  • Character & Citizenship Education (CCE) programmes;

  • Values in Action (VIA) programmes;

  • Science programmes; and

  • Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) programmes.

Gamified Experiences.

The gamified experiences will give students the opportunity to co-operate, strategise and play a part in creating a circular economy through their individual choices. The games provide a simulation that closely mimics real life. Each game allows players to role-play as various entities – including corporations – and provides them with opportunities to make choices and play in a safe and inviting environment.

Through the gamified experiences, players will learn and understand why circularity can help them achieve economic wealth whilst staying sustainable. It is through strategizing during the games that players will learn the appropriate sustainable and circular strategies that they can bring to the real world.

Learning Journeys.

The Learning Journeys at Circular Asia & Humanistic Youth Centre (HYC) integrates eco-stewardship with active student participation in a transformative journey that involves sustainable practices and active participation in conservation efforts. Our carefully crafted programmes and activities develop the next generation of leaders who are not just knowledgeable but also driven to bring about positive social transformation.

Staff Development.

Combining sustainability and a hands-on cooperative learning experience, Terra SG’s Staff Development Programmes are unlike traditional staff development programmes; we deliver group activities that are environmentally responsible, educational and enjoyable for all school staff.

Together with Terra SG, our past clients have organised a variety of team building activities, including:

  • learning journeys to venues related to Singapore’s environmental sustainability such as the Sustainable Singapore Gallery

  • competitions that challenge team members to upcycle items for use in their office

  • interactive team-based upcycling workshops
