Biome-Diversity: An Online Event about Biodiversity in Singapore

Biome-Diversity_EventBanner.png

How much do you know about the animals and plants in Singapore? What actions can we take to preserve Singapore’s rich biodiversity? In conjunction with World Environment Day, the Sustainable Singapore Gallery is proud to present a brand-new ONLINE event, Biome-Diversity, happening on 5 June from 12pm to 7pm!

Join us on an immersive visual adventure game as you role-play as a family of monkeys traversing Singapore’s pristine natural spaces and encountering local wildlife species along the way. It’s an excellent way to learn about nature – from the safety of your own home! This novel experience is recommended for children aged 12 and above.

Next, listen in on insightful dialogues with local wildlife advocacy groups as they shed light on concerns about wildlife in our sanctuaries and intertidal ecosystems. Hear from The Untamed Paths, ACRES, and Singapore Youth Voices for Biodiversity as they share more about their work and what we can do to play our part in protecting our wildlife!

EcoBytes Ep 8: Out of the Box - Learn to Make New Products out of Cardboard!

Collected many cardboard boxes from the big online sales last year? Instead of throwing this precious cardboard into the rubbish bin, you can use it to make decorations, furniture, and much more!

Join us this Saturday, 20 Feb 2021, on a new episode of EcoBytes to find out more about this versatile material!

This week, we’ll explore cardboard carpentry with experts from Paper Carpenter, Adrian Chua and Irene Ng. They’ll go in-depth into what cardboard can do – and teach us how to make our very own hanger and multi-holder from scratch, using the cardboard we have at home!

Join us on IGTV, Facebook or YouTube this Saturday at 2pm to watch the new episode! See you then!

EcoBytes Ep 4 – Plastic-Lite Lifestyle ft. Plastic-Lite Singapore

Have we been throwing away too much plastic? According to a study by the Singapore Environment Council, Singaporeans use about 1.76 billion plastic items a year! That’s an unsustainable amount of plastic trash going into our landfill!

This week on our online event series EcoBytes, join us as we speak to Plastic-Lite Singapore, a local environmental volunteer group that seeks to promote a plastic-lite lifestyle among Singaporeans. Find out how our plastic use affects the environment around us and the steps we can take to reduce plastics in our daily lives!

What’s more – learn how to create jewellery holders and planters from old plastic containers during this online event! Turn your trash into functional decorations through this upcycling tutorial!

Join us at 2pm this Saturday, 10 October, on the Sustainable Singapore Gallery Instagram page to watch the premiere of this exciting online event! See you then!

(Note: After the Live event, the video recording of this Live session will be uploaded on the Sustainable Singapore Gallery Facebook and Instagram pages. Do follow us on these platforms for updates!)

EcoBytes Ep 2 - Watch Your Bite! (feat OsomeFood)

What did you have for lunch today?

This question is simple, but very telling of your food preferences – and how sustainable your diet is.

How can we tell whether a diet is sustainable? How can we make a switch to more sustainable food options? Find out this Saturday on the second episode of EcoBytes, the online event series by the Sustainable Singapore Gallery that explores sustainability topics with contributors from the local community!

This week, we will be joined by Mr Jason Fong, the founder of local sustainability food brand OsomeFood, who will not only share more about the sustainable diet, but also provide a simple cooking demonstration on how to create a plant-based dish!

That’s not all! For this episode, OsomeFood will be giving two lucky winners their Osome Wellness Box (worth up to $120), filled with delicious and sustainable ingredients for you and your family to enjoy!

Excited to start on a more sustainable diet? Join us this Saturday, 22 Aug, at 2pm on Facebook Live and Instagram Live and tune in to our second episode of EcoBytes – Watch Your Bite!
