EcoBytes 2.0 Ep 5: Coming Full Circle II

Do you know what plays a crucial role in the global supply chain, so widely used that it is practically invisible? It's pallet wood! With the high volume of usage every day, it is not surprising that pallet wood faces a high damage rate. Many of them are disposed of when they fail to meet the high safety standards, which creates a huge amount of waste! How can we cut down such waste and give these woods a chance of rebirth?

In a brand new episode of the newly revamped Sustainable Singapore Gallery’s online event series EcoBytes, we speak to Rachel, Project Executive at CREUSE, a sustainable brand by XCEL Industrial Supplies. Join us as we explore more about how XCEL Industrial Supplies and CREUSE give these reclaimed woods a chance of rebirth by repairing and upcycling!

Also, stay tuned for the hands-on workshop, where you can learn how to upcycle reclaimed pallet wood into a storage crate!

Singapore’s food waste situation has worsened over the years. Did you know that about 800,000 tonnes of food is disposed of every year? This is equivalent to everyone in Singapore throwing away 2 bowls of rice every day! How can we minimise food wastage while saving money?

In a brand new episode of the newly revamped Sustainable Singapore Gallery’s online event series EcoBytes, we speak to Preston, the co-founder of treatsure, an imaginative mobile app startup that tackles food wastage, as well as Nicholas, the co-founder of TreeDots, a social enterprise that tackles food wastage. Join us as we explore more about how to consume food sustainably and learn more about how food is potentially lost in the supply chain!

How do you tell if a piece of fruit is edible? Most of us rely on visual cues such as shape and colour to decide which pieces to eat, and which to throw away. But, is this the best method?

In a brand new episode of the newly revamped Sustainable Singapore Gallery’s online event series, EcoBytes, we speak to Augustine from UglyFood, a local produce company that sells “ugly” produce, to learn how to distinguish an inedible fruit from one that’s just slightly “uglier” than the rest.

Stay tuned after the dialogue to see a hands-on acai bowl-making demonstration, and learn how you can turn your “ugly” fruits into a beautiful and delicious bowl of acai!

Did you know that almost 70% of our cosmetic plastic packaging ends up in our landfills?
